Taking the pieces off of the Rubik's Cube and then putting it back together is the better option. If you try to switch the stickers, they won't align correctly and it is only a matter of time before stop sticking altogether. I do not know this from personal experience, because I would never do either of the things I mentioned...and publicly admit it.
