I consider this strip to be a Gundam related comic. To me, Amuro Ray is the first character that comes to mind when I think about the 'Falling into the Cockpit' trope. In reality, Shinji Ikari would make a much better example of it. Regardless, there are more than enough characters that prefectly encompass this trope through the anime/manga landscape.
